I know an artist who is a wildlife painter - she loves Africa and below are a few of her current collection. She has canvases in the National Collection of Singapore and has sold paintings all over the world.
But in the pandemic something strange happened, as she began to view websites of other wild life artists she began to doubt her ability. Comparison drove self doubt. She overlooked her own ability, and ignored less talented painters and claimed her work was "not so good".
That got me thinking about how we compare (and the quote / title above). Who do you compare yourself to? Do you compare yourself to those more or less talented? With more or less financial security? How does that drive or undermine you?
