Shifting Perspectives to Unlock Potential

Feedback and reframing are two tools that help others grow and see challenges from a new perspective. Used well, they’re transformative

What Is Feedback? Feedback provides clarity, direction, and encouragement. It’s most effective when it’s constructive and kind.

What Is Reframing? Reframing involves shifting how we see a situation. For example, a failure can be reframed as a learning opportunity.

Practical Tips for Feedback and Reframing:

  1. Start with Positives: Highlight what’s working before addressing areas for growth.

  2. Be Clear and Compassionate: Use specific examples to avoid ambiguity.

  3. Reframe Challenges: Ask, “What’s another way to look at this?”

Does it always work?:In some cultures, direct feedback may feel harsh. Use softer language, such as, “Have you considered…”

Put it into practice: Reframe a challenge you’re facing by asking, “What’s the opportunity here?” Notice how this shift affects your mindset.

Feedback and reframing help people grow, build resilience, and see the world with fresh eyes.
