This is a practice to help you pause, and instead of reacting, respond intentionally when faced with a difficult situation, problem or person!
Step 1 Whenever you notice you are feeling an emotion other than positive or neutral
STOP: Pause for a moment. You might focus on your breathing for a few breaths. You might center yourself. Whatever the technique you use, become more present. Be aware of how you are feeling
Step 2
CHALLENGE: Ask yourself what assumptions you might be making about the situation or the other person. How might you respond differently to the person / situation (other than the feeling you just noticed)? and then;
Step 3
CHOOSE: Decide how you will behave, the body language you will display, the words and tone of voice you will employ.
