World Forest Day

Today the UN celebrates the forests (made up by over 60,000 species of tree) of our planet (you know the things that produce oxygen, are carbon sinks, hold water in the soil, provides habitat to 80 percent of amphibian species, 75 percent of bird species, and 68 percent of the world's mammal species)

Next chance you get, try forest bathing

  • Go to a wood or forest

  • Turn off your devices to give yourself the best chance of relaxing, being mindful and enjoying a sensory forest-based experience

  • Walk at 1/2 to 1/3 your normal pace - this isn't a race, slow down to see and feel more

  • Breathe deeply - long belly breaths deep into your abdomen. Make sure you force the air out of your lungs by pushing with your gut. This will help you relax

  • And don't just walk, as the mood takes you, stop and stand or sit. Use all of your senses. What can you smell? What can you hear? What can you feel on your skin? What can you see?
